Success rarely happens by accident. It takes a purposeful and passionate effort. 
I believe that some people don't get what they want out of life primarily because they don't know what they want. In other words, they don't know what to focus on.

When we write something down we simultaneously give it legitimacy. The printed word has the power to influence you. It can impact your life in ways that you may not realize or appreciate. 
Record all of your positive thoughts and efforts regarding your True Vision in a journal. Always try to finish every journal entry with a positive line or two concerning your will to make your True Vision a reality.

The 19th century writer James Allen observed that "People are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves; they therefore remain bound."
Unfortunately, this assessment describes many people, but I doubt it describes you. You are different because you are trying to develop or achieve your True Vision and are looking for direction to succeed.

Any negative phrase, if repeatedly thought, will be believed. "I'll never lose thirty pounds, who am I kidding?" 
This kind of repeated chatter creates something called a self-fulfilling prophecy. 
Sociologist Robert K. Merton reasons that any prediction, not necessarily based on fact, which is believed by the predictor (you), may eventually end up as the truth simply because he or she actually believed it would happen. 
You don't want to set yourself up for failure, so be very careful what you say to yourself.

You may stoke your vision to keep it hot by putting your thoughts down on paper. Think about your activities. What worked for you? What failed? 
Keep the vision active in your mind's eye every chance you get.

How many of us wake up one day and proclaim, "Today is the day that I begin a lifelong smoking habit that will give me poor health and cut my life short"? I can't think of one person. However, if as a young adult, you don't have an active vision of a smoke-free life, then you may very well end up as a smoker. 
Those who don't know where they are going may end up anywhere.

Be accountable to another person while achieving your True Vision. 
People tend to succeed at a higher rate when they're involved in that endeavor with another person.

The fact is that many people fail because they don't know exactly what they want. If you don't know where you're going, then how do you know how to get there?
